Moose Legion Fish Fry August 23rd. Proceeds will go towards Karsten Herrick (read his story below)
Karsten was born a healthy boy on August 11, 2010. As months went by, we realized he wasn't reaching certain milestones like, holding up his head, sitting up and rolling over. At 18 months he was genetically tested for (SMA) Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This disease affects virtually every muscle in the body, even the lungs, ability to walk, swallow and the ability to talk. His prognosis was not good. At almost 4yrs of age, Karsten has far exceeded the expectations of doctors, but he has had a couple of serious bouts of Pneumonia and respiratory failure, but, because of the prayers of a loving family, church family and friends, he made miraculous recoveries. God has been so FAITHFUL!!!
Karsten is full of life and has a very vivid imagination and quite an extensive vocabulary. He loves to sing, go to church, watch Disney Movies and play with the ipad. He especially loves to watch Play-doh videos on You-Tube. As a result of this diagnosis, it became obvious that Karsten would need 24 hour care with his physical limitations and demands that only close family members could provide. The decision was made that Justina (Mom) would need to quit her fulltime retail job and stay home to care for Karsten, leaving Keith (Dad) as the sole financial provider. As Karsten has gotten older, he has realized that he is not like other kids who can run and play independently and verbalizes that he wants to run and do things on his own. Karsten has become extremely difficult to physically maneuver because he is getting so big and is in need of an electric wheelchair that he can operate by himself. Owning an electric wheelchair is difficult to transport without the use of a handicap accessible van. These items are not covered by insurance and are usually purchased out of pocket, which can be very expensive.
After sharing these needs with Theresa Canady here at Grand Reveal, she offered to open her generous heart and her beautiful shop to the need in Karsten's life and allow a donation station to be set up in his behalf. Our family is deeply humbled and grateful beyond words for this selfless act of kindness. We appreciate anything given on behalf of our sweet boy. If you cannot give anything financially, we would be so grateful for your prayers on Karsten’s behalf for continued healing and health.

Eternally Grateful,
The Herrick Family

Hello Fellow Moose Family,
I hope that you are having a great summer. It is hard to believe that school will starting in a few weeks. That means that we are heading into our busy season here at the lodge. There is a lot going on in the next few months.
The biggest thing is that we are hosting the Moose Legion Celebration in October. We need ALL MOOSE LEGIONNAIRES to help out as much as possible that weekend (11th-12th). There will be a meeting August 23rd during our Moose Legion Dinner. We will be having a “Murder Mystery Dinner” that night. Make sure that you make plans to come. It should be a lot of fun.
Starting August 1st, the cross-membership will begin! That’s right a man can sign up a woman and a woman can sign up a man into the Moose Fraternity. The first man to sign up a woman and the first woman to sign up a man into the Panama City Moose Lodge will get a free drink!! Any questions on this or any other general law that have changed, you may go to mooseintl.org and look under the General Governor’s tab.
We will be having a pool tournament on the first Saturday of each month. The tournament will start at 7pm. Women if you would like to learn how to play come @ 6pm and we will teach you. Then there will be a woman’s only tournament at 7pm. The men will play on one table and the women on the other. So if you are looking for something to do on a Saturday night, come down and play pool. The kitchen will be open that night too.
On the third Saturday, there will be a cornhole tournament. We will start @ 6:30pm. Fun for all ages!!
I am still collecting for the mortgage fund. If you would like to make a donation please come see me. Any donation will help. I would like to have it paid off this upcoming year. Thank you to all that have donated already.
